AIPMT or All India Pre Medical Test is an annual college entrance examination for medical colleges and Universities in India. AIPMT is conducted by CBSE or Central Board of Secondary Education in India. Their head quarter is situated in Delhi. AIPMT basically provides entrance for the degree of MBBS and BDS in various Indian medical colleges. The Union of India, municipals, state governments and other authorities run 15% of the total AIPMT seats. This prevails everywhere in India except for the states of Jammu and Kashmir and Andhra Pradesh. In these states, the seats are given to those candidates who pass the examination. The AIPMT main 2014 exam is said to take place on 4th May.
AIPMT 2014 Exam Levels
The AIPMT main 2014 exam will take place in two levels. The first level exam consists of total 180 questions. This exam takes place on the first Sunday of the month of April. The complete syllabus of this exam can be found in the NCERT biology books. The second level exam generally takes place in the month of May. This second level AIPMT exam is the most prestigious medical entrance examination in all over India. AIPMT can be viewed as the medical equivalent of engineering entrance examinations AIEEE, which is also conducted by CBSE. This level-two exam contains 50% biology, 25% chemistry and 25% physics.
Other CBSE PMT Exam Details
Both the preliminary and AIPMT main 2014 exam has three hour duration. There are 200 questions in preliminary exam and 120 questions in the main exam. Both contain objective type questions only. Each question carries 4 marks. In case of an incorrect answer, one mark is deducted from the total score. More than 250 dental and 1900 medical seats are available via AIPMT medical entrance exams. Students who get a rank up to 2500 can hope to get a decent seat through AIPMT.
